Thursday we went on an excursion to the river in montuerto. We started the day off with a short bus trip and then walked into the little town and towards the river. The walk was beautiful with green ferns and lush fields surrounded by serine mountains. As we walked in I couldn't help but notice the green grass and cows nearby. Then when we eventually got to the river it was spectacular, there wee caves surrounding the river with large cliffs overlooking the swimming area. There was a small wooden diving board and a large area for swimming. There was also a little bar with food, drinks and sweets for the children. We set up on the grass at the side of the river. The children swam and jumped off the diving board as well as explored the area all day they seemed to love it. We had sandwiches for lunch and more time to explore. I jumped in myself and it was refreshing and pristine, but VERY cold. However, it was a hot day so it was really quite invigorating. We came back to camp in the evening and let the kids have time to shower before dinner. It was a fantastic excursion!
