Founded in 1669 as The Hospital and Free School of King Charles II, King’s Hospital was based in Dublin’s Queen Street for its first century before moving in 1783 to the noted Georgian building in Blackhall Place which is now the headquarters of the Law Society of Ireland.

King’s Hospital is regarded as one of Ireland’s leading boarding schools and facilities for those living away from home are constantly upgraded to ensure a comfortable, healthy, welcoming and inclusive environment.

The supportive atmosphere that exists amongst the whole school community stems from the fact that 50% of the staff actually live on the campus, some with their families, and interact with the pupils 7 days a week offering ongoing pastoral, academic and cultural support to all. While many domestic and International pupils enjoy full time 7-day boarding a 5-day boarding option is also available to pupils domiciled in Ireland.

Six, four and two-bedded rooms - with en-suite bathrooms throughout all age groups - provide privacy and flexibility in the boarding accommodation.

Final year pupils share twin study-bedrooms in a separate senior building – called Bluecoat House – to encourage self-discipline and self-reliance and to further develop the academic and social skills required for their move from secondary school to third level education.

Housepersons live in close proximity to each boarding house and are readily available to pupils and their parents.
